"Well, here it is," said Silver. "We want that treasure, and we'll have it—that's our point! You would just as soon save your lives, I reckon; and that's yours. You have a chart, haven't you?"

"John Silver," he said, "you're a prodigious villain and impostor—a monstrous impostor, sir. I am told I am not to prosecute you. Well, then, I will not. But the dead men, sir, hang about your neck like millstones."

Treasure island - strong if not strangling

Another favorite of my litteray mentor Viljo. But I am shunning. No doubt about the mastery of the author. For me at first tens of pages were exercise of quick reading, dull, easy wording, like ship on a quiet sea. I already started wondering the reputation of this classic. In vain. A real firework of words, expressions of seaman speech - and of burning gunpowder followed. If it had stopped to that, I would not say a crossing word. But there were cadavers galore, no value on human life as in the worst Westerns. Hypocrite or not, I cannot accept. Even if for and just because of an unprecedented amount of gold of all mints of the world. Too much is too much, even if ingeniously presented. Cruelly 3 stars, even two from me would not be too little.
